Karine Zeitouni is a Professor in Computer Science at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Paris 6, and her HDR (qualification for supervising research) from the University of Versailles. She is heading the Ambient Data Access and Mining (ADAM) group at DAVID laboratory. Her main research interest lies in spatiotemporal databases and knowledge extraction, with a focus on applications in the fields of transportation, environment and universe science. She has supervised 11 graduate PhD thesis, and co-supervises currently 4 PhD students. She has co-authored around 120 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers. She is involved in several conferences in the field of (spatial) databases and knowledge discovery at national and international levels, either as a program committee member or a (co-)chair.
Title: How the Internet of Things impacts human mobility data management and mining?
Increasingly, cell phones are equipped with locational receivers via GPS, GSM and WIFI, opening up new ways to study and predict the human activity and mobility. This has motivated active research in the area of Moving object databases (MOD), including the efficient spatiotemporal data processing, data driven knowledge extraction, privacy, etc. The advent of the Internet of things (IoT) empowers the mobile objects by the capacity of their state and context observation. This opens rise towards much more intelligent applications. Building on our experience, the objective of this talk is to give a flavor of the advances in this field, the current trend, and some directions of research. We will illustrate the inherent back-and-forth relationship between human mobility and its context, by showing the use of the context in the modeling, the analysis and prediction of human mobility, but also the use of mobility patterns to characterize their context and their underlying territory.
